We have added a new Documentation layout for Help Center, designed for teams with larger, more structured help centers.

The existing Help Center layout works well when you want a simple home page with search, topics, popular articles, and social links. But for product documentation, setup guides, and reference-heavy content, readers often need to see the full structure while they move through articles.

The new Documentation layout makes that easier.

What’s new

Sidebar navigation: Categories and articles are now shown in a sidebar, so readers can browse your help center without going back to the home page.

Article metadata: Each article now shows the author and the last updated date in the header.

Search from anywhere: Search is now available through a command bar. Readers can open it with ⌘K and search by article title or body from anywhere in the help center.

Light and dark themes: Readers can switch between light and dark themes based on their preference.

Popular articles and categories: You can continue to highlight popular articles and popular categories, helping readers find commonly used content faster.

Social profile links: You can link your social profiles from the help center, so visitors can find your other public channels easily.

Open in LLM: Each article now has an “Open in” option, allowing readers to open the article in supported LLM tools.

This is useful when readers want to ask follow-up questions, summarize the article, or use it as context while troubleshooting.

Choose the layout from settings

You can choose the layout from your portal’s Appearance settings.

There are two options:

  1. Classic: the existing Help Center layout with a home page, search, topics, popular articles, popular categories, and social links.
  2. Documentation: the new layout with sidebar navigation, article breadcrumbs, table of contents, command bar search, and improved reading controls.

The Documentation layout is currently in beta. Try it with your help center and share feedback with us.
