Your assistants, connected inboxes, documents, and FAQs stay as they are.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>The old free-form instructions field is no longer used. Assistants now take their behavior from scenarios, response guidelines, and guardrails.\u003C/p>\u003Ch2 id=\"on-self-hosted-installations\">On self-hosted installations\u003C/h2>\u003Cp>The next Chatwoot release removes V1. After you install it, Captain always uses the new version, and there is no option to switch back.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>If your assistants rely on the old instructions field, move that behavior into the new settings before you upgrade. Installations with no old instructions do not need to do anything.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Use the migration task.\u003C/strong> From v4.16.0 onward, Chatwoot includes a task that reads an assistant's old instructions and drafts FAQs, response guidelines, guardrails, and scenario candidates. Run it while your installation still has V1, review every draft, and then apply it.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Set it up by hand.\u003C/strong> Add the guidelines, guardrails, and scenarios to the assistant yourself. Take this path if your model provider cannot serve the model the migration task uses.\u003C/p>\u003Cp>Before you upgrade, back up your database and test a migrated assistant in the playground and in a connected inbox.
